Brockville General Hospital opens new north parking lot.

Earlier this summer, staff and visitor parking has seen many adjustments to make way for a new 5-storey patient tower. The new patient tower will be constructed in the former parking lots, located east of the current hospital building.

“I am very appreciative to our community, staff and physicians, who have been very patient with our parking changes,” shares Nick Vlacholias, President and CEO at BGH. “This completion is a major milestone towards seeing all hospital services under one roof.”

Public access

The public will be able to access the new lot via the temporary entrance off Ormond Street, along the Emergency entrance. Earlier in August, BGH’s entrance roadway, formerly Charles Street, was reduced to one lane, exiting westbound only. Visitors dropping off patients may continue to use the traffic circle, located at the main entrance.

Staff, physician and volunteer access

Staff are asked to enter new parking lot via Bartholomew Street, southbound, south of the railway tracks.

Safety

To ensure everyone’s safety, please follow all posted signs.

·      A speed limit of 20KM/hour on hospital property.

·      Speedbumps, for pedestrian safety, have been installed.

·      Security staff are available to assist visitors.

At the same time as the opening of the new north lot, parking in the Emergency Department visitor lot will be reduced by half to allow for ongoing construction. For up-to-date information on the project, visit www.brockvillegeneralhospital.ca/redevelopment.
