Brockville General Hospital opens new north parking lot.

Earlier this summer, staff and visitor parking has seen many adjustments to make way for a new 5-storey patient tower. The new patient tower will be constructed in the former parking lots, located east of the current hospital building.

“I am very appreciative to our community, staff and physicians, who have been very patient with our parking changes,” shares Nick Vlacholias, President and CEO at BGH. “This completion is a major milestone towards seeing all hospital services under one roof.”

Public access

The public will be able to access the new lot via the temporary entrance off Ormond Street, along the Emergency entrance. Earlier in August, BGH’s entrance roadway, formerly Charles Street, was reduced to one lane, exiting westbound only. Visitors dropping off patients may continue to use the traffic circle, located at the main entrance.

Staff, physician and volunteer access

Staff are asked to enter new parking lot via Bartholomew Street, southbound, south of the railway tracks.

Safety

To ensure everyone’s safety, please follow all posted signs.

·      A speed limit of 20KM/hour on hospital property.

·      Speedbumps, for pedestrian safety, have been installed.

·      Security staff are available to assist visitors.

At the same time as the opening of the new north lot, parking in the Emergency Department visitor lot will be reduced by half to allow for ongoing construction. For up-to-date information on the project, visit www.brockvillegeneralhospital.ca/redevelopment.

Construction Update

Our entrance roadway, formerly Charles Street, will be reduced to one lane to enable construction crews to complete work building a new electrical substation. As a result, traffic will be detoured to the emergency vehicle entrance, located off of Ormond Street. Work is expected to take 6-8 weeks.

Entering the campus

Patients wishing to park onsite can access the emergency/visitor lot from Ormond Street only.

Visitors dropping off patients will be asked to use the emergency vehicle entry lane, located off Ormond Street, and follow traffic signs to return to Ormond Street or the visitor parking lot.

Staff, physicians and volunteers with parking permits for the visitor lot may enter the lot off of Ormond Street, located beside the emergency vehicle entry lane.

There is no change for emergency vehicles. Ambulances will continue to use the emergency vehicle entry lane, located off Ormond Street.

Safety

To ensure everyone’s safety, please follow all posted signs.

  • A speed limit of 20KM/hour will be implemented across the Charles Street property.
  • For pedestrian safety, speedbumps will be installed near the emergency entrance.
  • Additional signage at any entry/exit points will be installed.

Security will also be made available to assist with directing traffic.
