Thanksgiving Monday brought out runners, walkers and rollers of all ages for the first 5K For Care event, held in memory of Rick Steenwyk. Organized by his wife, Shelley, the event was a way to honour Rick’s memory and give back to the Palliative Care Service that supported their family.
Under clear skies, participants took part in the community walk, run or roll event along the Brock Trail starting from Paul Mac’s parking lot. Families, friends and supporters joined in, creating an atmosphere of energy and connection.
The event raised over $2,400 for Palliative Care, funds that will help ensure compassionate support continues for other patients and families in need.
We would like to send a sincere Thank you to Shelley and her family for their incredible efforts and to everyone who participated, donated or volunteered. The community’s support make the event a wonderful tribute to Rick’s memory and a meaningful way to give back.
