THE BROCKVILLE AND DISTRICT HOSPITAL FOUNDATION RAISES OVER $164,866 FOR EYE CARE AT BROCKVILLE GENERAL HOSPITAL THROUGH THEIR ANNUAL APPEAL
December 24, 2020: The Brockville and District Hospital Foundation is pleased to announce that over $164,866 has been raised for new YAG laser eye surgery equipment for Brockville General Hospital (BGH) through this year’s Annual Appeal fundraiser campaign.
“This new laser system is a vital tool in the prevention of vision loss from various eye disorders,” shared Dr. Sam Stevens, an Ophthalmologist who practices at BGH. “It will be primarily used in the management of glaucoma and conditions related to cataract surgery at our hospital. Both affect a large and increasing segment of our population.”
To maintain the safe, quality care provided at BGH, the new laser equipment will replace an older model, which is facing the end of its recommended lifespan.
“From the time of the Annual Appeal kick-off, on November 2nd, we have been humbled by the overwhelming generosity of the community”, stated Joan Simon, the BDHF’s Executive Director. “The Foundation is constantly amazed at the giving community in which we live in.”
This year’s Annual Appeal raised over $164,866.
“Thousands of people in our community will benefit from your generous donations to our Hospital – thank you,” said Stevens.
