THE GREEN FAMILY GATHER AT THE NAMING AND DEDICATION UNVEILING CEREMONY OF BROCKVILLE GENERAL HOSPITAL’S NEW PATIENT TOWER
On September 29, 2016, the Brockville community lost a cherished friend, Donald (Baillie) Green. Don Green’s smile was contagious and legendary, as was his generosity. His philanthropy lives on as the Don & Shirley Green Family Charitable Foundation recently announced a $2 million gift in support of the Brockville General Hospital’s Phase II Redevelopment Project.
When asked why their family foundation made this recent donation Debbie O’Brien, the Green’s eldest daughter and President of their Foundation responded, “This community has always been home to my Mom and Dad. To be able to make this donation is providing a legacy for our Dad that demonstrates the commitment to our community, and to the Brockville General Hospital. It is wonderful that my Mom gets to see this happen as this is a proud moment for our family as we honour our Dad in this way.”
The BDHF is humbled by this $2 million dollar legacy gift in support of Brockville General Hospital made by the Don & Shirley Green Family Charitable Foundation. The philanthropy and generosity shown by Don & Shirley Green and their foundation, is well-known and has touched the lives of many, both locally and globally.
Joan Simon noted, “Don Green’s generosity, and ongoing support will be acknowledged by naming the tower the Donald B. Green Tower and it will be fitting recognition for he and his family.”
