The Palliative Care Telethon, a titan among local fundraisers and a key source of revenue for the service at Brockville General Hospital, is the latest casualty of COVID-19.
Wayne Blackwell, co-chairman of the event’s organizing committee with Bruce Wylie, said Wednesday the organizers have decided the 30-Hour Telethon for Palliative Care Services won’t happen in any form this year, out of concern the usually massive volunteer effort might expose too many to the risk of coronavirus infection.
