THE CAROLYN SIFTON FOUNDATION DONATES $1 MILLION TOWARDS MRI
Tues., June 7th, 2022: The Brockville and District Hospital Foundation is excited to announce the remarkable gift of $1,000,000 from the Carolyn Sifton Foundation. This donation will go towards the purchase of a much needed MRI for the Brockville General Hospital (BGH). This donation brings the goal of $6 million even closer to a reality. “The Foundation is beyond thrilled to receive this generous gift from the Carolyn Sifton Foundation. This gift, clearly shows that the Sifton Foundation understands the need for having an MRI in our community, and this gift has brought us that much closer to having an MRI here at the Brockville General Hospital.”
Access to an MRI and this type of technology is critical for our community. MRI’s are used to diagnose medical conditions such as abnormalities of the brain, tumours, cysts, and soft-tissue injuries in other parts of the body. This imaging can help physicians provide early diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions, which can make a big impact on an individual’s quality of life.
The Carolyn Sifton Foundation has been a longtime supporter of our entire community through an array of projects and initiatives. The Brockville and District Hospital Foundation, and Brockville General Hospital has been fortunate through the decades for the Sifton Foundation’s great support of past Capital Campaigns, the Palliative Care and Cardiac Rehabilitation Cardiovascular Programs through their generous hosting of two Heart and Solstice events and equipment needs. Many people are unaware that governments do not fund our programs or equipment but donors do. It is because of the generosity of gifts; such as this from the Carolyn Sifton Foundation that our hospital is able to provide and care for our community at the highest level possible. We are forever indebted for their generosity.
When asked what contributed to the decision to make a gift of this magnitude Graeme Sifton the Foundation’s President noted, “If anything, the last two years have proven to us is that good health care is vital and just how important a hospital is to a community. We are blessed with a wonderful facility in BGH. Supporting the purchase of an MRI only enhances the quality of care available locally and ensures a vibrant, healthy community.”
